It’s more than a language course: it’s a chance to think, speak, and connect in Spanish, every day.
This semester-long program is designed for students who want to develop their Spanish skills in real-world contexts – experiencing the language as it’s truly used in the streets and homes of Granada. Combining classroom learning with immersive experiences, Language & Culture provides a balanced and enriching academic setting that opens the door to Spanish-speaking worlds beyond the textbook.
Ideal for students at intermediate to advanced levels, the program includes intensive language study, cultural seminars, and the option to take university-level electives in Spanish. A dynamic environment and close academic supervision allow students to progress with confidence, while homestays, visits, and tailored activities ensure a full immersion into local culture
Course description
A full-semester structure with a strong start and flexible core
The program begins with an intensive one-month Spanish course focused on grammar and cultural tools to ease adaptation. It continues with a GRIIS seminar (Spain Through the 21st Century), mandatory core courses in language skills, and optional electives offered by the University of Granada’s Centro de Lenguas Modernas. An internship option is also available.
University-level recognition and flexibility
Students typically enroll in the intensive course during the first month and 4 or 5 courses for the rest of the semester. All coursework is evaluated and accredited by the University of Granada, with official transcripts issued upon completion. Classes are taught in Spanish and tailored to the students’ linguistic level, supporting and challenging students in equal measure.
Total integration into Spanish life
Students are hosted by carefully selected local families and enjoy full board, personal attention, and constant linguistic exposure. Housing in a student residence is also available. The program includes curated cultural activities, guided excursions, and optional volunteering or internships. Academic advising and tailored support are provided by the GRIIS team throughout the semester.
